February 7, 2023 Full moon in Virgo
I am posting this for anyone who would like to use this for their own ritual.
Items to gather: (if you have them available)
Scales
mini white candle
earth
water
your choice of cakes and ale
For this Virgo full moon, I am invoking the Goddess Astraea to join the circle and help us to embrace the energy of this moon. Please take time to set your altar space. Place an item or a candle at each of the directions to begin to cast a circle. I am using the scales in the middle of the altar as the focal point. In order to show balance and honor to Astraea, one side of the scale will have the earth (Virgo). The other side will have water (Pisces) Virgo's opposite/sister sign is involved with the astrological constellation of this moon as well.
Take a moment to set your intention. Activate your ritual space (cast circle).
Astraea, we ask you to join us on this full moon ritual. We ask that you bless us with your presence over this rite. Pisces asks us to transcend ourselves, to look inward to what you are afraid of changing or letting go of. As I Virgo, I don't like to let go or feel that my inner space is out of control. This is the perfect time for me to invite in peace and balance with acknowledging that it is ok to feel fear with change but, now is the time to accept and welcome that energy. Now we ask Astraea for your guidance on making the changes in our personal lives that will help us evolve and surrender our fears.
Now take a moment to visualize what you need to transcend from or face to say I can and will make positive changes to grow; letting go is part of the balance I seek.
Cakes and Ale
Astraea, star maiden, thank you for being part of our balancing and acceptance of change. Thank you for bring your energy to this ritual.
So Mote it Be. As above so below.
Extingiush any flames to close circle
Information listed below is on the Greek Goddess Astraea:
Greek Goddess of justice, purity, and innocence
Symbols: wings, torch, scales, stars
“Fleeing from the new wickedness of humanity, She ascended to heaven to become the constellation Virgo the scales of justice She carried became the nearby constellation Libra, reflected in Her symbolic association with Justitia in Latin culture. In the Tarot, the 8th card, Justice, with a figure of Justitia, can thus be considered related to the figure of Astraea on historical iconographic grounds.
According to legend, Astraea will one day come back to Earth, bringing with Her the return of the utopian Golden Age of which She was the ambassador
This full moon forms oppositions to the sun, Mercury, and Neptune in Pisces. The shadow side of Virgo can fall into criticism and perfectionism. In its attempt to control, it holds on to things that should be released and creates the mental/emotional clutter that it spends so much time trying to avoid. It may seek organization and cleanliness outside of itself to pacify inner messiness. However, Pisces asks us to transcend these parts of ourselves. It reminds us that purification is largely an internal job that requires vulnerability and emotional awareness. The wisdom of Pisces is all about surrender and letting go. This looks like being vulnerable enough to notice and own where we’re holding onto control by criticizing or expecting perfection. We cannot release if we aren’t vulnerable enough to admit that there’s something we need to let go of. When we can recognize this, it opens the door for acceptance, compassion, trust and unconditional love, which are forms of surrender. Pisces encourages us to use visualization, meditation, dream work, and spirit guides to do our healing work.
