Ahhh, it is pure BLISS to relax at the top of a mountain after a trek up. Today's blog post features photographs taken from during my hike on the Stony Man trail of Shendendoah National Park, Virginia. My favorite part of the hike.... definitely the view from the cliffside!
It is most rewarding to hike. The way I think about it, your own legs are taking you to a destination that cannot even be accessed by car - how awesome! In this case, the Stony Man trail took us on a fun rocky climb to a scenic viewpoint. Hiking gives one the ability to gaze upon views or areas in nature that otherwise cannot be reached.
I was surprised to see a completely calm pool of water at the top of the rocky outcrop of Stony Man. It was actually just a puddle; some rainwater that had collected there, but the reflection of the clouds on the mirror-like water was just stunning.
Shenandoah National Park is a great outdoor escape to the mountains, and the Stony Man Trail was just one of many hiking routes to choose from. More on my other adventures in Shenandoah to come in future posts, so stay tuned. :D
Are you a fan of the outdoors? What's your favorite place you've visited?
Love,
Jess
