Ahhh, yes, nothing says "hood" quite like this very popular spin on "you can't sit with us".
But where did it originate from?
Well, obviously it's a hood term, but who started it?
"I don't F* with you" was originally created via a misunderstanding between rappers Lil' Wayne and T.I.
One night, as I'm sure you're all aware, the two had an incident at the Grammy Awards, when Lil' Wayne was speaking to an interviewer on the red carpet who asked him how the evening was going. Lil' Wayne, seeing T.I. speak to another interviewer behind him replied:
"Oh yeah, you know, we outchea wit' T.I., Drake, ..."
And before he could finish his sentence, T.I. turned towards Lil' Wayne and said the original line:
"I ain't fing with him, I ain't Fing with you"
After that night, people all over the world started ironically saying "I ain't F*ing with you". This became what is called a "meme".
Now, it's supposed to be understood as:
"I am not with you."
I am not with you
I ain't with you
I ain't f*ing with you
However, as people tend to understand things wrong, they understood it as:
"F*ing with you, is not what I'm doing"
People then started using variations of the term and eventually it just kind of evolved into "I don't F* with you"
The end
