Mattel, not to be out done by Hasbro, has decided it needed to get some viral news for useless changes to a classic game. While not nearly as annoying as what Hasbro decided to do with Monopoly, Mattel certainly needs to rethink their strategy here.
Uno, Dos, Tres – mistakes
Uno is a classic card game that most reading this will recognize based on almost any one of the cards used to play. It is known to forge, as well as end a few, friendships from an early age – depending on how you are playing. Growing up, I never made any connection with the color of the various cards with anything other than those special cards like “skip”, “draw”, and “reverse” or to play a same color card out of my hand.
Mattel has decided to make what Cracked.com is calling a “non-partisan” Uno deck. Yep, they politicized the game by trying to “de-politicize” it.
The second mistake that Mattel made here is removing the red and blue cards. Yep, colors are apparently now a trigger point. Now players can expect yellow, green, orange, and purple cards.
The final mistake is literally adding a “Politics” card with a cancellation circle over the word. Why?
This is not even a joke
Seriously, here is the official website for Mattel showcasing the wonders of “non-Partisan Uno”. They even have a video detailing how much more fun this version is.
