30th June 2017 marked a profound day in my professional career and life in general. On this day I decided to quit my job and down tools after a decade of working as a carpenter.
My reasons were simple, I no longer found joy or happiness in my work. Some called me crazy, others said I was too old for such a drastic career change, but through all the opinions and chatter I had known for some time I was destined for a different future.
September 2017 - Three short months later, after much planning and preparation, I walked through the doors of the National College of Ireland for the first time and found my way to the first of 4 years worth of Computer Science lectures.
January 2018 - This coming week marks a hard-won milestone in my unyielding plans for the future. A little over 6 months after making the initial decision to down tools, I have secured my first developer job working for an IT company in Dublin City Center.
It is truly extraordinary what can be achieved once you have absolute belief in yourself, and in your abilities to dream and change.
