Kindle Fire HD 8 (8th Generation)
IS THIS ANY GOOD IN 2026?
Planned Obsolescence is a thing. Gadgets of nowadays are created to break after a period of time to create a constant demand for the ever "improving" stuff being churned out. It's one of the engines of our materialistic capitalist world. Things could be made to last, we now have way better technology than when things were made to last, but they are not made to last on purpose. Think of those old American cars from the 1940s-50s. Many of them were so well made that they are still working today. If you visit Cuba today in 2026, you will see them masterfully refurbished and functioning many decades later. I don't think Tesla made today would be around in 15 years, let alone 70.
The earlier Kindle Fire tablets were actually well made in my opinion. With care, they have lasted. The only issue is that, as time goes on, they become nonviable and incapable of running the apps that have become so tasking. They become obsolete not by physically breaking down, but just by their incapability to keep up with the new versions.
In this video I did a full review of my 2018 Amazon Fire HD 8, the 8th Generation of Kindle, and assessed its viability in the present day. It has been discontinued, of course, but it is still available in the used market such as on Ebay.
Peace & Love,
