I recenlty tried to take on another Ethereum based gaming challenge and came across Etherman, which pitches itself as a blockchain based bomerman.
I really enjoyed playing Bomberman as a kid, The Nintendo created maze based challenge game so I thought why not give this one a shot.
The game uses ETH so you'll need meta mask to run it. You can also choose to switch to Tron, BTC lightning network or Waykichain but for these you need to create an account manually.
It doesn't seem like you can do cross currency playing so if you choose a certain cryptocurency you need to stick within that league.
The game is pay to play and you will need funds to wager on each match you play. You can host a match or challenge a fellow player.
Try out Etherman
Etherman lore
The game is set in Ether world which has been misgovernment and led to desolation and ruin.
It's inhabitants have been left fearful and lacking direction, awaiting the day a new Ether clan will arise and restore order.
Four Ether clans see opportunity to seize control of the fruitful land of blast and fire and impale their rule.
The Pirates, Vikings, Warrior Girls and Samurai now battle it out or domiance of the region.
How Etherman works
- You can choose 4 characters to play with. All have equal strength. The character is bound to your wallet-address and cannot be changed later on.
- For now this is a 2 player game.
- The game can last 5 minutes maximum. If there is no winner until then, the winner is chosen randomly from the server.
- There is no draw. If a bomb kills both players simultaneously, the winner is chosen randomly from the server.
- There is 1 winning round (for now). If you win a game you have 1h time to claim your win.
- After you have deposited a stake, you can withdraw it anytime as long as no opponent has joined the game.
- You can't choose who you are playing with. It would be easy to cheat the high-score.
- If you have a connection problem or some other dispute, ask your opponent to not claim the win. You can then withdraw it after 1 hour if he's fair.
Cost of play
You cannot play the game without having money in your account. I tried to play a test match but it didn't seem to work.
- The minimum challenge ammount is 0.001 ETH ($0.22 at current value)
- All the way up to 50 ETH ($10 100 at current value)
You can pick how much you're willing to wager on each match.
Playing the game
Once you've funded your account you're free to play and find players to challange. The game play is decent and smooth.
All you do is use your up, down, left and right keys to move and spacebar to drop your bombs before you need to haul ass.
The game brings back fun memories of Bomberman and the wagers make it intresting however finding players seems to be a problem.
The game also has a leader board per cryptocurrency so you can see who are the top players.
(Note: I did not attempt this on mobile)
Etherman gameplay
My rating for Etherman
Etherman lacks players and I really think it should consider porting over or create a compaitbality with the STEEM blockchain if it wants to recruit players.
The active community and the microtransactions this game runs on would really suit this blockchain better than the ones currently supported.
Its a fun concept ruined by lack of competition and for that I can only give it a 5 out of 10
