Where to start ? The state of the games released on this generation of game consoles seems to be showing no sign of increasing quality , games released un-finished ,untested and broken are more common than ever even in so called triple-A releases. I'm so fed up of them I have almost given up buying them and mostly wait for several months for a time when they are fully patched and working , a good bi product is they are usually on sale or in the bargain bin.
This practice would NOT be tolerated in any other industry . Goods and services are supposed to have some kind of quality attached to the purchase and there should be some kind of minimum acceptable quality for any purchase based on reasonable customer expectation and cost .
We as game buying customers seem to have little or no rights when we purchase a game that is near unplayable due to BUGS . if a game failed to load at all we might have better luck obtaining a refund but attempting to explain that 5 hours into your game that it is now unplayable because your save game file has become corrupt or some other technical issue has rendered any further progress impossible , well good luck in getting the overworked shop assistant at your local supermarket to understand that AND give you a refund to boot. If you've downloaded the game from Microsoft store on your xbox or Pc then you WILL NOT get a refund no matter how badly the game won't work. Steam customers may be better treated but I am unsure about that as it is now so long since I played any Pc games , Ironic as it sounds I stopped playing PC games when Graphics cards needed replacing every 6 months and said graphics cards cost more than a playstation and xbox combined and getting a game to run on a PC was like some kind of dark art . Games on consoles used to JUST WORK .
We seem to be powerless to stop game publishers who seem to have immunity from ANY LAWS regarding trade or at least at bare minimum , tacit approval of Microsoft and Sony who go on just sticking seemingly ANYTHING into their online stores , you have to ask who gives the green light at Microsoft/Sony that gives the OK for a game to be sold via their storefronts when online ,more often than not online on a service that you've PAID a yearly subscription to use.
Something tells me Microsoft and Sony are not really our friends even when we pay them every day.
Anyway , that's an end to my rant.( sort of )
GOOD NEWS we can all look forward spending a LOT of money for upgrading our consoles and TV's so we can all really enjoy playing all the new broken games in GLORIOUS 4k instead of that horrible old fashioned HD/Full HD really really hd . don't expect better or more sophisticated game play though because don't forget all the OLD PS4 's and XBOX ONES that are out there and EVERY GAME released will HAVE to work on them as well as the new upgraded consoles.
Spare a thought for the poor Pc player who may spend £2000-£3000 on a game system only to play BAD ports of console games.
