Luksong tinik means jump over the thorns. It is one of the most popular Filipino game during 80's to early 20's. This game is almost alike with the luksong baka or the jump over the cow, but it is in a different version, because in this game, we use a stack of hands to increase the difficulty of level, while in luksong baka, we only use the back of the players. The players needs to succeed on jumping over the stack of hands and feet by the 'it', without touching the 'it's' hand by any part of their body. The 'it' is an English version of 'taya'. Once they touch or fail to jump over the thorn of stack hands and feet, they will going to be the 'it' in the next round.
To determine on who are going to be the first 'it' in the first round, we should go into an elimination process, by ompyang or jack en poy. The last 2 remaining player will going to be the 'it', because in this game, we need 2 'it', so they can solely stack their hands and feet together, to build a high level of difficulty. The 'it 'are going to change, if there are someone who will not able to jump in those thorns perfectly.
This game is quite difficult than luksong baka, since you are not allowed to touch anything, while jumping. You need to accelerate yourself to get a good momentum, then jump as high as you can. It is a good advantage if you are tall or a long legged, since you are already a high jumper, while most of those players are not, then you can prevent yourself to be the 'it'.
Playing this childhood game has lots of good benefits such as, you can burn some calories to become healthy, practice your strategy and team play in order to win the game, earn and win new or a life time friends, and the most important is you will surely enjoy the game.
