Now that we're back online I wanted to share some of the work on SteemBots that went on during the last couple days. I'll be keeping the official announcements regulated to my account I wanted to show off some of the behind the scenes. As well as some cute 3D printed toys my boys have been enamored with these last few days.
These first few pictures are from our team meetings. You may have seen the first one before if you follow either of my accounts.
In this picture we were discussing the progression of the bots how they might evolve from the cute to the battle hardened machines that might be their later forms. Of course some of the ideas will need to be modified or scrapped. So far the idea is that you're bot is yours, you can't remove parts but you can augment them with various sub parts that you receive in loot boxes. At some point in the life of the bot they "evolve" into their final form with new parts and new augments that can be added. Each "base" (where the legs or wheels are) dictates the final form.
The boys had a real good time with this idea and have drawn a lot of new shapes and possible final forms.
Liam offered some ideas for possible bad guys for the game as well, though missions that include enemies is still months away.
TOYS!
We wanted a fun way to present the bots to a larger audience and give them an idea of what we were making. Even thought the camera on my phone is garbage I think you can make out the final product.
I've enjoyed working with the boys on this greatly, and Seamus and Liam both have their own game ideas that they want to attempt. Though they still have a long way to go both in modeling and in coding. Of course as their teacher I hope that they will be at a place where they can take the lead and I can just work as support for those projects once STEEMBOTS is out the door.
About
STEEMBots is (or will be) a free to play Monster Rancher inspired bot building game built around the STEEM blockchain and ecosystem. If you want to find out more about the project or how you can help check out our fundition page here. We are looking to fund it on a monthly basis and even just a dollar a month will go a long way to making the game a reality.
