For the last several years at the San Diego Comic Con, the Hasbro booth has released an Exclusive Magic the Gathering card set. These are always a miserable experience to obtain advice they are highly sought after. Let’s take a look at the 2013 Foil Plainswalker Set.
This was the first year Hasbro put out a MTG SDCC set. It has since started a trend and with the following this game has along with it being a major exclusive, it’s a true nightmare to obtain annually.
The box itself is nothing super special. Later ones are much nicer. A basic box that opens up in the center. It has the usual SDCC Exclusive sticker on it.
The first card is the Ajani, Caller of the Pride.
Followed by Jace, Memory Adept
Liliana of the Dark Realms is the center card and a puffy one at that.
Next up we have Chandra, Pryomaster.
Lastly we see Garruk, Caller of Beasts.
When we first got these back in 2013 we came back with 3 sets. Both my business partner and I obtained one each at the Hasbro booth and we bought one off someone in line. I think the retail was around $100 bucks or so. I can’t remenber specifically. We ended up selling one for a grand immediately upon returning home and another for $600 a few months later. As of today they are averaging around the $500 range with some reaching as high as $750 and as low as $400. All in all...a really cool set to own for any MTG fan or player.
If you own this set, is it playable or tournament legal? I’m a moron when it comes to this so please...spit some knowledge on me. Lol
Thx for looking!!
