What would happen if four square and volleyball had a baby, Spikeball would happen! Spikeball is a mix between the two sports, it is where two teams of two people each take turns hitting a ball down onto the hula hoop-like net.
The two teams start out with everyone in a perpendicular, cross-like matter, where opposing teammates are across from each other. One player starts the serve, and the opposing teammate across from the server either spikes it back down onto the net, or sets it up for their teammate, like in volleyball.
Each team has three hits every time the ball is spiked to them, but a single player cannot hit the ball twice in a row. Also, once the ball is served, anyone can go anywhere. There are no boundaries, which means if someone hits hit 15 feet away, you’d have to run after it.
The ball itself is spherical, and yellow, and either has volleyball like indents on it, or a bunch of little dots for grip. The net has a hula hoop-like structure supported by five pegs with a net going across the middle.
We started playing Spikeball when my brother saw it on shark tank, and our dad bought it for all of us. We tried it out and it was pretty cool, and we've been playing for about ten months since we got it. Spikeball is growing popular, and there are tournaments all across America, including nationals. But for us it's just a really fun game that we show to all our friends because it's so simple.
The spikeball sets are about $50 but in my opinion its worth it! We've played in the heat, rain, mud, snow, sand, dark, cold, everything. Spikeball is a really fun game that you should totally check out! Anyway, thanks for viewing and please upvote and comment any suggestions on what you would like to see on my blog, see ya, Jared
