Video games are the virtual version of society games, and we all played a video game at some point. In our days, these games have a complex graphic and the Internet makes it possible for people from all around the world to connect in real time while playing.
Also, many of them have very interesting and captivating stories. But for regular players, there are pros and cons of video games. You should put them in balance and see for yourself if playing so much is good for you, but I believe that anything you do excessively can harm you.
Pros
Video games help you develop certain abilities, some of them can stimulate and develop a strategic thinking.
From the simplest games, known in the whole world like Sudoku, Chess or puzzles, to the most legendary action video games, you can train your logic and strategy abilities. Even better, if you play on a Wii, you can also train your reflexes.
Another big pro of video games is the fact that they can be a great social binder. They can be a lot of fun and they represent an interactive way of spending time with your friends. There are a lot of online multiplayer games in which you can meet new people and socialize.
The last pro I’m going to talk about it’s the fact that video games reduce stress level, because it’s easier to canalize your anger on a game, so at the end of it you might feel released.
Video games also keep our minds active and focused on the gameplay, so we don’t think about our problems that much.
Cons
The worst part about video games is that they are really addictive, especially the multiplayer ones. They can keep you on that chair for hours. Although it’s great to be connected to so many people that have the same interests as we do, these kind of games can be a danger for your physical and mental health.
It’s important to set some limits so you won’t become addicted to gaming.
Also, you have to admit that time is precious and we should use it in a productive way.
Although video games help you develop some abilities, they’re not the best way to spend your time. Especially if you’re used to playing for hours in a row.
Another bad side of gaming is that it can lead to severe problems. Hours spent in front of your computer or TV can lead to tiredness, headaches, back pain and vision problems.
