Want to help me design a game?
G'day guys, hows it going, here is a little game I'm working on at the moment called Tatchi.
It's inspired by Tamagotchi and maybe a little from the resource managers like Farmville, though I don't think I will be employing as many retention strategies as they do, I find some to be a little unethical
Game Design
so the game is a little virtual pet evolution simulator with a choice of elemental eggs and a garden
I'm not Japanese but I think Tatchi means "us" in Japanese, which is kind of a weird narrative I wanted to create in the world; A kind of Zecharia Sitchin inspired backstory
Main screen
this is what the main screen will look like, you will be able to see the pet(egg in center), the garden(plots around egg i.e the circles and squares), go into the worm farm(bottom right) or select the bag icon(bottom left, I don't know what it was meant to be in that picture xD)
Pet
the pet has a few main stats, they are effected by a counter( such as hunger increasing) and different interactions(like training, feeding, sleeping etc)
Evolution tree
the game is based around the evolution of species through their growth conditions. It's going to be a pretty simple representation though, depending mainly on the food they eat, the time they are put to sleep and their health/hygiene status.
they can evolve into 1 of 2 possible forms, I'm thinking of going with 3 but I want to have at least 4 evolution tiers. Basically, I'm trying to keep it down to about 100 different unique Tatchi maximum, including all evolutions.
I think this also opens up a whole set of items that need to be made, some that trigger and some others that cancel evolutions

(i was working on a similar more ambitious project and i took the ui straight out)
Plants
the player can grow different elemental plants which yield food and evolution items for the pet. you need to water them and can fertilize them for extra yield.
Worm Farm
don't waste the poop!
your pet will poop and you can compost it with the worm farm to produce fertilizer for your garden
Its a self-maintaining system, wow! so sustainable!
Decorations
one possible feature addition are some decorations for the garden, these could maybe have an area effect around them or have an effect on the garden as a whole
Day and Night System
there will be a day and night system and your pet will require sleep. not sleeping in time will eventually make your pet sick and unhappy
This is going to probably be the light you can turn on and off
Special Items
I want to have some special items that act as evolutionary or event triggers in the game, one idea I could think of was to have a secret undead egg, what do you think? can you think of any more?
if you give me any cool idea's I will add them in for sure(and credit you)
Art Style
I'm trying to decide between a vector style in Illustrator and the pixel art style.
Which one do you think looks better?
