While Nintendo is not all that keen on giving Waluigi his own game, they hardly let Luigi out on his own, that has not stopped one fan from giving this misbegotten character some love. To the tune of over 26,000 dominoes. Yeah, it is as amazing as it sounds.
First making his appearance in Mario Tennis for the Nintendo Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64 console, Waluigi has been a thorn in the side of both Luigi and Mario. Waluigi has had less opportunities on his own than his goodie two shoes counterpart which is to say, not much. Still, even though Nintendo is not keen on giving fans more Waluigi, those same fans are more than happy to do it themselves.
Take his 26,000+ domino monstrosity. This is not something that is easy to take in all at once. I am on my fifth or sixth viewing of the video (embedded above) already and I still cannot believe the immense work that had to go into this thing.
I do Perler bead art and have purposefully avoided larger pieces due to the sheer amount of work involved. I am not lazy, just don’t have the space to dedicate to a large piece. Perler bead art is something that can be put away and worked on later. You cannot easily do that with dominoes – they are set and that is where they are until you knock them over. That means, this dedicated fan had to keep everyone away from this project until it was done.
Just look at the intricate work involved in the red and clear setup to the right. Then there is the bomb character that goes down before we finally see the bad one himself and our jaws drop. Could you imagine setting up not only Waluigi himself but his name vertically in the background? How stressful that had to be?
Just amazing. Want to check out Waluigi’s debut? You can grab it on eBay.
