It's currently one of the most played games on Steam (no relation). Basically about a hundred players parachute onto an island, and then it's everybody versus everybody until only one player is left standing.
The island is full of different kinds of weapons and vehicles. Players can even run over each other in this game. There many different hiding spots too. One of my favorite things to do is to find a good hiding spot and ambush the first player that walks in.
I've been player this game for months and still haven't won yet, but sometimes I get into the last five or ten players left. I think it's because I've gotten good at hiding and ambushing, instead of direct confrontations.
Another strategy is to not jump from the airplane at the beginning, but to wait until it makes you fall. Then you end up with a small group of other players who are either most likely new players, or they're AFK (away from keyboard).
When you don't have any weapons in this game you have to use your fists. A combination of jumping up and then punching on the way down seems to be the fastest way to kill another player when you're unarmed.
When you're done with the AFK newbie group start looking for a building. All the buildings in this game start out with loot in them, things like guns, ammo, armor, and backpacks.
The things you'll probably want first are a gun, a backpack, and a helmet or some body armor. Eventually, you'll find better weapons, but you should pick up whatever you find first so that you're not caught unarmed by another player who is armed.
Try to find a tower or a rooftop where you can snipe at other players from a distance, that seems to be the safest and easiest way to get kills. And like I said earlier, ambushing other players can be effective too.
Your strategy might depend on what kind of weapons you find. If all you have is a shotgun, then you're only going to be effective at close range, on the other hand a sniper rifle may be powerful, but it can take longer to reload. Think of the weapons like different tools for different jobs.
But I think the best advice I can offer is that no matter how fast your computer is, just try turning down all of your graphics settings accept for the Draw Distance. Leave the Draw Distance at the maximum setting and leave all the other graphics settings at the minimum.
Doing that will make it look "worse", but should give you the best visibility on other players and loot (they'll stand out more). At the very least it should reduce the number of distractions around you. And it should also improve the speed of the game on your computer.
Here's a video that Youtube user FrankieOnPC made about PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds:
And now I'm off to play it myself :)
