This past Saturday the 12th the monthly Community Day took place from 11 am through 5 pm local time. It featured Hoppip, the Cottonweed Pokémon. This one had a lot of bonuses! The regular bonus was 3x Catch Stardust and of course like always Lures and Incense activated during the event last for 3 hours. A few snapshots for surprise encounters with Hoppip could be taken. You could get 3 free Raid Passes during the event (and up to two hours after) on the day. This includes your free daily Raid Pass so it's 2 additional ones. I believe this was the case last month too but I'm not too sure. In Park areas there was a chance for Skiploom to spawn too and catching them have bonus Hoppip XL Candy.
I made sure to have finished eating and drinking a coffee earlier this time so I could be at a good place in my city to start playing with some friends. Not because Hoppip is an interesting Pokémon, but because of the 3x Catch Stardust.
This time I was walking around with only 2 friends rather than usually with 3, as one of them was kinda sick and stayed home.
We had some really great weather, it's been quite cold most of the days but this day was really sunny. Not too warm still, but the sun shining all day made it feel much warmer.
I encountered my first two Shinies within my first 20-30 encounters. Here are some photos of them. I also took a Pokédex entry screenshot after I caught these two already because I forgot before it started.
We had Hoppip that weren't weather boosted for 3 hours of the event and for 3 hours of the event we did have weather boosted Hoppip. I think I used maybe 8 Star Pieces in total, or a bit more. Sometimes I wasn't gonna be able to catch all the time and then I made sure I didn't have the Star Piece running. For example when I was eating a bit. During the weather boosted times I had 4 of them active, so for 2 hours of it.
I caught a 4-star Hoppip during the day, bringing my total up to 3 as I already had 2 from prior to the event. I'll show them here.
The Jumpluff at the end is the Hoppip I evolved during the Community Day so it would know the Exclusive Charged Attack "Acrobatics". Not that Jumpluff can reach a high CP as you can see, but I still wanted to make one with the move. Perhaps it can be used in Great League for PvP, but I don't know if it would be that great.
Throughout the event I caught 34 Shiny Hoppip, no idea how many ran away xP I don't use Razz Berries for them during Community Day if I already caught a bunch. I ended up with 3 of the 3-star Hoppip, so I evolved one to Skiploom and one to Jumpluff. No Pokédex registries obviously as I showed my older Jumpluff already. Here you can see the stats for the Shiny I evolved to Jumpluff.
I didn't have Lucky Hoppip yet, so after the event was over I traded some with a friend. After several trades, I received a Lucky Hoppip and evolved it to have Lucly Skiploom and Lucky Jumpluff in the Pokédex. Here are its stats.
Here is a screenshot of my Hoppip Pokédex entry after the event was over and the trades were done for the Lucky Hoppip. Quite a lot of Hoppip ran away if we compare the stats to before the event. Mostly because I kept using Poké Balls, it takes too much time during events like this to regularly switch to Great Balls.
Thanks to the sunny weather it was a really pleasant day to walk around. I didn't take screenshots for the Stardust gain, but it was definitely great. Especially with some Skiploom catches too whenever we came in some of the local park areas.
Did you play during the Community Day?
