The Lush Jungle event in Pokémon GO has started today. It's the next event bringing more Pokémon first discovered in the Alola region into the game. The event will run until March 29 at 8 pm local time.
With the first event we had a focus on Pokémon mostly found on the Meleme Island. Now with this event we have Pokémon found on the Akala Island appearing in the Wild, in Raids and some from Timed and Special Research encounter rewards.
This event there is a Timed Research found under the Today view and an Special Research "An Akala Adventure". Here are screenshots of the tasks for the first steps. They both have 4 steps to complete.
I was able to encounter a Fomantis quite quickly. So here are screenshots of the first one I encountered, the Fomantis Pokédex registry and the stats for the first one I got.
Just like Yungoos, it needs to be evolved during the daylight and needs 50 Candy. This time there is no Collection Challenge so you don't have to try evolving one during the event.
These are the wild spawns for the event.
Lush Jungle weekend park spotlight
This weekend, starting Saturday March 26 at 10 am local time and lasting until Sunday March 27 at 8 pm local time there will be a spotlight event in parks. During that time in all park areas Cottonee will be appearing more frequently. I'm not exactly sure if the Shiny is available since the start of the whole event, or if it'll become available once the weekend park spotlight starts. Niantic's blog post mentions Shiny Cottonee's Pokémon GO debut under this weekend event. So far I haven't see one yet so I can't confirm it it's already available or becomes available then.
Event Field Research Tasks
As with most events there are some Field Research Tasks from the event that can only be obtained during the event times.
Here is the list of the ones with Encounters.
- Use 3 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Caterpie ✨ OR Wurmple ✨
- Use 10 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Fomantis
- Use 15 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Paras ✨ OR Parasect
- Catch 5 Grass-type Pokémon: Seedot ✨ OR Exeggcute ✨
- Catch 5 different species of Grass-type Pokémon: Cottonee ✨
There is also an event one to walk 1 km which gives Razz Berries or Pinap Berries.
If you're looking for more Stardust, make sure to catch any Paras you come across as they give 500 base Stardust. For Parasect it should be 700.
