The story of Season of Heritage continues with a Power Plant Event. This event started today at 10 am local time and will last through February 1 at 10 am local time. The event doesn't have any additional bonuses right now. But on the 24th a Team GO Rocket part will be added to the event.
The next part of the story reads:
"Spark’s intuition leads him to believe that the final mechanism of the door requires Electric-type Pokémon to power it. Work with Spark to catch Pokémon as he makes progress toward unlocking the final mechanism of the mysterious door located at the historical cave site. In this event inspired by the power plants found in the Kanto and Kalos regions, you’ll be able to catch Pokémon like Magnemite, Voltorb, and Helioptile!
In the shadows, it seems that a nefarious force has also caught wind of the door and the power that lies beyond it…"
With the event, the following Pokémon will be spawning more in the wild:
- Magnemite ✨
- Grimer (Kantonian only) ✨
- Voltorb ✨
- Electabuzz ✨
- Porygon ✨
- Trubbish ✨
- Helioptile
Rare spawns:
- Electrode
- Jolteon
Helioptile are spawning quite regularly, so with hardly playing yet since the event started I did get one already. Here you can see my first catch and my Helioptile Pokédex registry.
For the raids you can check Niantics post about the event here: https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/season-of-heritage-power-plant-event.
Genesect with Shock Drive will still be in 5-star Raids until January 24th at 10 am local time and will then be replaced by Regice. Any Regice from Raids in that period will know the Charged Attack Thunder. My kinda move ;) It's probably not going to be very useful for Regice in PvE content. Not sure about its potential with the move in PvP.
Event Field Research Tasks
Pokémon
- Catch 5 Electric-type Pokémon: Electrike, Joltik OR Helioptile
- Make 3 Curveball Throws: Magnemite OR Voltorb
- Walk 1 km: Helioptile
- Walk 2 km: Alolan Grimer OR Trubbish
- Walk 4 km: Emolga
Mega Energy
- Take 2 Snapshots of wild Electric-type Pokémon: 25 Manectric Mega Energy OR 25 Ampharos Mega Energy
The most interesting Field Research quests this event for me would be the walk 1 km and walk 4 km ones. Because the 1 km guarantees Helioptile encounters compared to the Catch 5 Electric-type Pokémon where it's only 1 in 3 chance. I might not do the walk 4 km one that often, as it takes a while to complete so it clutters up the list of 3 quests.
During this event I'll try to trade Voltorb or Electrode for Lucky. I've already had Lucky Voltorb before but transferred it without evolving so Lucky Electrode is still missing in the Pokédex 😅 I have all the other wild spawns from the event and their evolutions Lucky already, except for Helioptile of course because it made its debut today. I'll trade Helioptile too. I don't think I have Lucky Emolga yet, so if I can complete a few tasks for it, I'll see if anyone has some to mirror trade.
If you're looking for more Stardust, then the wild Trubbish encounters are great to catch!
On the 24th, "A Bad Feeling..." will start at 12 am local time. Right now it's known that Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons and Charged TMs can be used to make Shadow Pokémon forget Frustration. If there will be more stuff to it, it'll likely be announced in a few days.
I'm excited to see Jolteon appearing more frequently in the wild for sure!
What are you looking forward to with this event?
