The Season of Mischief has begun with the start of September. This season will last 3 months like previous seasons. With the changing of the seasons, different Pokémon will be appearing more in the wild again. The eggpools have also been updated with these seasonal changes. Certain Pokémon will be appearing more frequently based on the hemisphere. Some of these include the following.
Northern Hemipshere:
-- Jigglypuff
-- Slowpoke
-- Chikorita
-- Cyndaquil
-- Totodile
-- Deerling
-- Autum Form DeerlingSouthern Hemisphere:
-- Clefairy
-- Roselia
-- Snivy
-- Tepig
-- Oshawott
-- Tympole
-- Spring Form Deerling
There are more as well which have not been mentioned by Niantic yet. We will see them in the wild anyway when we encounter them.
I've personally seen more Ralts and Bagon compared to usual.
Ditto can now be encountered Shiny in the wild. If you encounter a Pokémon that is a Ditto, but you encounter the Pokémon Shiny then that Pokémon will remain Shiny and not transform into Ditto. When a Pokémon transforms into Ditto after catching, it then has a chance to be Shiny. So if you for example encounter a Shiny Teddiursa, you will know for sure it remains Teddiursa and won't transform into Ditto.
Even though I already have a Shiny Ditto from the Pokémon GO Tour Kanto event, it is still going to be exciting to see how it looks when the Pokémon transforms into Ditto and turns out to be Shiny Ditto.
Alongside the other bonuses that keep going throughout this season there is also an addition of 3x bonus XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time. Which is quite ideal when you're exploring new places.
During this Season of Mischief we get a Special Research called "Misunderstood Mischief". It's is all about Hoopa which has been teased since GO Fest this past July. The Special Research will gradually become available over the course of the Season of Mischief.
Here we start out with Part 1. I'm putting screenshots of the conversation with Professor Willow, so beware of spoilers if you haven't started the Special Research yet.
After completing those tasks we went to part 2. Here is the conversation before that.
As you can see that's where Professor Willow is still performing an investigation before sending us Trainers out for more tasks. Which is how the Special Research will have breaks throughout the season before the next part is released.
Today, September 5th, the next part was released though alongside a limited Collection Challenge for Hoopa's Arrival. Unfortunately I forgot that was taking place today and didn't open my game until the limited event was already over. Thus I have missed out on the Collection Challene, which also rewarded Trainers with Hoopa Candy and a Poké Ball Lift avatar pose.
Apart from that, the next part of Misunderstood Mischief also became available. I did start that when I was playing for a bit in the early evening.
Spoiler warning as the conversation with Professor Willow is here.
After completing this set of tasks, we are rewarded with an encounter with Confined Hoopa. Here you can see the encounter, Pokédex registry and stats of my Confined Hoopa.
Unfortunately it was a 2* Hoopa with pretty bad stats. I still feel like for these Mythical Pokémon we get once from a Special Research they could give everyone a 4*. I do wonder if maybe Hoopa will be appearing in Raids around Halloween alongside Darkrai. Time will tell. It's also peculiar to receive the Mythical Pokémon this early in the Special Research. Perhaps this Special Research will also lead to Hoopa Unbound.
Once we caught Hoopa we have another conversation with Professor Willow. Spoiler warning for that conversation as it's in screenshots here.
Professor Willow is now once again performing an investigation and it will take some time until the next part of Misunderstood Mischief will be unlocked.
Did you participate in the limited event today with the Hoopa's Arrival Collector Challenge?
Have you completed the current steps for Misunderstood Mischief?
