Ahoy! This weekend on Saturday the Stufful Community Day took place. Niantic decided to lower these back to the 3-hour Community Day length from before the pandemic. A bit unfortunate as my group of friends usually did play a lot during the 6 hours, but at least that also did mean I properly ate and was already outside before the community day started.
Stufful, the Flailing Pokémon, and Bewear, the Strong Arm Pokémon, make their Pokémon GO Debut with this Community Day! As far as I remember that's the first time a Pokémon makes its Pokémon GO debut with the Community Day! Stufful requires 400 Candy to evolve into Bewear, that's quite high when a Pokémon just makes its debut. But on top of 3x Catch EXP for this Community Day we also got 2x Catch Candy and more chance for XL Candy.
On top of that I decided to have a Mega Evolved Pokémon active for an extra Candy per catch. Stufful is Normal- and Fighting-type. Currently there's no Fighting-type Mega in the game yet I believe. But there are 2 normal types. Pidgeot and Lopunny. I only had enough Mega Energy for Pidgeot. So I used one that I still had from an event with an Elite Fast Attack. I'm waiting to evolve a Pidgey into Pidgeot if they bring the move back again with an event. So for now I just Mega Evolved that one and registered Pidgeot in the Mega Pokédex!
The Field Research tasks from PokéStops were to catch 3 Stufful, walk 1 km or use a Pinap Berry to help catch a Pokémon. All of these could give Stufful encounter, Stufful Candy, Stardust or Pinap Berries. I only got 2 Stufful encounters from these. The tasks with Candy could also help a lot for those struggling to get them.
Here is the Stufful Pokédex registry from the start of the event.
It started off slowly, they weren't weather boosted. I met up with friends at the location where we usually start. Weather wise it was kinda sunny, but not too warm. So I was wearing a sweater. After the first hour of the event the in-game weather changed to Cloudy, so from then on the Stufful were all weather boosted.
With my group we ran into someone we had not seen in a while, it was good to see them again! Had a fun chat and spent some time with them joining us to go around for some catches.
We heard from someone about a 100 IV elsewhere in the city so we walked there and it was still there so we were able to catch it! It even turned out Shiny for one of my friends! Then we continued walking around more around the city so we could also spin more PokéStops in other areas to get more quests. Eventually when the second hour was just over, one of us found a 100 IV so we also checked if we could find it in the wild, as it could've been from their Incense. It was indeed a wild one! And ooohh this one turned Shiny for me! 🤩
After the event I evolved it to have a Shiny Bewear Pokédex registry and of course to have the 100 IV as Bewear! It learned the Charged Attack "Drain Punch" as its Community Day exclusive move.
This is my second Shiny 100 IV Pokémon ever! The first one was during the Eevee Community Day last year, which I had since evolved into Sylveon. Here you can see both of them.
After the event I ended up with a total of 20 Shiny Stufful. Here are screenshots of them all.
With a new Pokémon, I was of course going to try and get it Lucky already too! And this Community Day also included a 50% reduction in Stardust for trading as well as 2 Special Trades instead of 1. After quite some trades I got a Lucky Stufful and immediately evolved it to also have Lucky Bewear!
Later I traded some Cherubi to a friend as well because they didn't have it Lucky yet. For convenience I just asked Stufful in return. With some trades we ended up getting Lucky so that they had their Lucky Cherubi, and I have Stufful 2 times Lucky now for my Pokédex.
Here are my Pokédex stats for Stufful from after the event and after the trading was done.
Did you also play during the Stufful Community Day and how did it go?
