There are some news spreading around that Blizzard will likely remaster Diablo II. I think this is great news, though it's not a 100% positive statement, as it could go sideways. So should Blizzard make a Diablo II remastered?
Well, first of all, I'm guessing a lot of people that have played it in the past would surely come back to try it out again. If you jump on Diablo II right now, you'll see that it's almost unplayable as there are just tons of bots roaming around, while real players are a rarity. Basically, I imagine most of the players would be the ones who have great memories. This also leaves me to the conclusion that a lot of gamers from this generation would not really appreciate Diablo II as it is certainly not the same as the games coming out nowadays. There may be a lack of appreciation and people will just shrug Diablo II off.
If you think about it, lots of people who played in the past are most likely not even playing games anymore, since so many years have passed. Today's generation is more into games with better graphical capabilities as well as generic and popular games. Without being positive that the remastered version will be a success, there's not a lot of initiative for Blizzard to invest their time in remaking it and that's understandable.
Diablo II was one of those addictive games where I literally spent hours and hours leveling up my characters and trying to get the best gear. The game was super fun, but the community and players made it very unique as well. Also, there would need to be some work put in to get rid of the bots, who are literally just farming stuff 24/7. But I think with enough work-force that's possible.
To be honest, I would much rather see a Diablo II remastered instead of Diablo IV. I really think it would have the potential to shine once again, despite the many obstacles along the road. However, only time will show and I will surely be there to support it.
What do you think about this? Would you jump on the Diablo II remastered version or just shrug it off? Let me know!
