As a lover of collectibles, a strong and loud supporter of non-fungible tokens and a full time writer for the hit blockchain game Splinterlands, the Synergy of Serra TCG project has certainly got my attention.
This new blockchain-based trading card game will be the first big offering from Calystral, a new gaming company that’s “unleashing the power of gamers.” They are all about fairness and rewarding games, play-to-earn, and everything we (as blockchain gaming supporters) love.
How the PreSale will Work
I especially like the way this presale is designed, offering the greatest possible rewards to the earliest supporters in a way that classic crowdfunding could never do. There are 2 types of crates: Transcendent and Base. You can find more details HERE, but basically, the Transcendent Crates are twice as expensive. I’m no fortune-telling wizard, but this strongly implies that the contents of the Transcendent Crates will carry greater values in the secondary markets.
Crates will be presold in pricing tiers, gradually climbing the price ladder as more early supporters join the presale. 20,000 Base Crates and 20,000 Transcendent Crates will be sold in the first pricing tier with the lowest possible price of $1 for Base and $2 for Transcendent. With each next tier, the price of Base Crates is increased by $.50 and Transcendent Crates are increased by $1. At the highest presale tier of 10, Base Crates will cost $5.50 and Transcendent Crates will cost $11, over 500% more than their initial price when the presale begins tomorrow.
What’s in a Crate?
The obvious answer is that the Crates will contain cards. There will also be some added surprises that sound quite interesting, such as minting device keys and rare artifacts. The minting device keys (sometimes found in Crates) will allow players to refine a specific card into its highest quality level.
There are details about the scarcity, rarity and odds of receiving certain types of cards in Base and Transcendent Crates at the Synergy of Serra SHOP PAGE.
When Will the Crates be Opened?
The Crates will be presold as NFTs that are immediately able to be listed and traded on Ethereum markets, but they cannot be opened until the Crate Opening Event.
This event does not have an ETA as far as I can tell, but that might be a good thing, as it is in the spirit of total transparency. Not only is the team sharing a page with examples of the completed art (which is breathtaking), but they are displaying a progress bar on the art team’s overall progress. We never know how long it takes a good artist to do incredible work like this, but we want them to take all the time they need.
I Like What I See
This is not investment advice. I’m interested in any good projects and solid applications of NFTs, especially when they relate to gaming. Calystral looks like a solid and professional team that knows how to get things done.
Obviously you shouldn’t expect to use this presale (or any presale) to get rich quick. If you research the project like I have and decide that it’s something you’d like to support, then that should be the reason that you buy Crates in this presale. The Synergy of Serra game is not yet in its alpha playable version. The art is not yet complete, but what is complete looks incredible. One nice thing about this presale is that the Crates purchased will immediately be owned and tradable by the players.
As the main content creator for Splinterlands, I’m extremely excited to see new types of TCGs entering this space. Synergy of Serra (as far as I can tell) will focus on deck-building mechanics and quick battles, so in many ways it will be similar to Splinterlands. I am excited to watch the presale unfold and I wish the team at Calystral great and unending success!
When does the Presale Start?
The Crates will be unlocked and available for purchase starting at 3:00 am MST on 8/3/20. You will need to make an account at Synergy of Serra beforehand. And please, visit Calystral’s website and Medium Publication where they have a great deal of information conveniently organized. The team is also easily reachable in the Discord server.
That’s all for now! Here’s to a Successful presale for Calystral and a long and prosperous future for Synergy of Serra!
