Sup Steem Punks & Steem Princesses!
Welcome back to another review on the best and worst of gaming daily!
Pokemon
If you owned this game for the original gameboy, you will remember the struggle of playing in the car while the sun goes down. Having to make moves in each street light as they pass. The original gameboy was not backlit, and if you had no light, you were screwed. Hours upon hours upon hours of grinding went into Pokemon. You start as a trainer to be in the realm where Pokemon run wild. Your neighbor gives you your very first pokemon and your off to become a Pokemon trainer and eventually to fight the Gym leaders and become a Pokemon Master! Lets "be the very best like no one ever was" and jump into this analysis:
The Good.
Back in the day, this game had it all.... A full and open world for you to explore and catch various different Pokemon. A ton of puzzles in the lands and in the gyms.... as well as some really tough bosses you had to defeat all the way until the end. As a kid this game was the ultimate adventure. Start from the bottom with one single Pokemon, who more than likely will be your favorite and most used until you get Kadabra or some Pokemon who can kill anything in one hit. haha
The music in the game was unforgettable. My nostalgia kicks in right as soon as the sound begins in the game. Each area has a different theme and you will definitely have these songs stuck in your head by the end.
Catching rare pokemon can be another challenge in the game. There are exploits in the original games that can get you unlimited Items to basically help you dominate the game. The exploit that I am familiar with isnt available till later in the game anyway, so you would have to grind it out to get there either way.
The exploit can also help you beat the bosses considering you can get unlimited rare candies of which level your character up... without the exploits you are looking a a ton of grinding. I personally like to grind on the battlefield but this can deter some.

The Bad.
At times in the game you might find yourself completely lost, or without an item that is needed for progression. For example, you need the Flash HM in order to get through any dark caves. If you happened to miss this HM it means you have to go all the way back to early in the game, and sometimes theres not many shortcuts to help you get there. This is a complete pain in the ass. I would say that is about the most trouble this game has given me.

The Ugly.
The lavender town music was said to drive people crazy. I heard stories of people having seizures and losing their minds when hearing the Japanese version. If I am not mistake they fixed this for the American version...WARNING: DONT LISTEN IF YOU HAVE A WEAK MIND OR ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO SEIZURES....check it out:
OVERALL SCORE: 9/10 Truly a classic RPG adventure!
This game probably was overhyped, but I dont even care. I feel as though it deserves the hype. If you go back and play it today, IT HOLDS UP. They even did a graphics overhaul for versions on the Nintendo Ds. This game is your classic RPG with the shell of a kids show. You will enjoy this as much as any other dungeon crawling RPG from the time. I definitely recommend it. I hope you enjoyed this episode of the best and worst of retro gaming...If you did please leave an upvote and follow for more gaming awesomeness! Catch you next time!
