BREAKING NEWS! | "MARIO QUITS PLUMBING!"

"Bad news for plumbers around the world: Their most iconic symbol has retired. Nintendo of Japan reports that Mario is no longer a plumber.
Over on Japan's Mario Portal, a Japanese bio for Mario reports that the Nintendo mascot is no longer plumbing. A translation from Kotaku reveals a bit more information:

"All around sporty, whether it’s tennis or baseball, soccer or car racing, he [Mario] does everything cool. As a matter of fact, he also seems to have worked as a plumber a long time ago..."

So it's official. Mario "seems to have worked as a plumber" back in the day, but these days he no longer participates in his toilet-plunging past. Then again, that does sound pretty accurate. Nintendo has yet to release a Mario game focused on fixing sinks.
