"We've got what we wanted, just grab the money and run. We have better things to do." -Starbound and DLive's dev.
Chucklefish, Starbound's dev
So I'm sure you're acquainted with what DLive did. But just: They turned our back to us and made their own blockchain. They went something like "thanks for the money and fuck you" then presented themselves as a new emerging video blockchain, expressing their stay on steemit was nothing but a "simulation test". After all the immense delegations and support they got from us, steem users.
What about Chucklefish? They are Starbound's game developers, who raised 10 million dollars during their kickstarter. They delivered a reasonably gun fame based on Terraria except you can travel between planets. The game is sort of fun,, but here's the problem...
Chucklefish wrecking Starbound's potential
Starbound changed very little after it's first release with the final boss. It had crappy monster art, which it still does. It had a slightly different combat system, which was improved upon a bit. Some randomly-encountered content was added, but the game as a whole basically needs a lot of community mods if gamers want any replay value from it. If you look at Terraria, it just kept going!
Why did they even need 10 million dollars? The game was pretty much ready. Not even 10 thousand dollars was needed to develop what little updates they put out later. Just like DLive, they took the money, stalled for a little bit then went off to do something else. Starbound should have been much greater. Well, too bad.
