Over the years have come a huge amount of video games, some are representative icons of a generation recognized in almost all the world and leaving a dose of nostalgia to many people, and in the same way there are games that were excellent and that contributed much to the people who played them, but collectively they are forgotten.
Chrono Cross would be a sequel to one of my favorite RPGs Chrono Trigger, but turn on this new game, we are located within many years or perhaps centuries of the first game.
All the events occurred during Chrono Trigger have repercussion in the history of Chrono Cross, especially in our main protagonist Serge, a young man who lives in peace in a fishing village, but everything changes one day that he was on the shore with a friend, Serge is attracted by a voice that is heard from the edge of the beach, but surprisingly as he gets closer to the shore Serge is absorbed by a portal and is sent to another reality or rather another timeline, it turns out that in that timeline he had died when he was only about 7 years old.
As I said earlier all events that happen to Serge have to do with what happened in Chrono Trigger, therefore to understand a little more the history of Chrono Cross it is advisable to have played Chrono Trigger first. In this story, Serge must discover in a journey full of adventures through time and different time lines all the mystery that is happening around him.
The first change we see when playing Chrono Cross is that graphically it is very different from its predecessor Chrono Trigger, we went from a 16-bit game to a 3D environment with polygonal characters, something that was quite common in the old and classic playstation 1.
Another significant change with respect to chrono trigger is in the design of characters, since in this game they are not in charge of Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball), in Chrono Trigger gave us a design of characters quite unique and representative as far as the drawing of this mangaka, even so the characters of Chrono Cross have a good design maintaining that anime style so characteristic, have a good color palette well stylized and also have 3D models look visually excellent and fit perfectly in the scenarios of the game.
Already speaking of the scenarios, we can find a lot of them and in turn these are full of details to observe, as is customary in the games of that time, the backgrounds of the scenarios where we move are pre-loaded, but with an excellent quality of drawing so that immersion in that fantasy world fulfills almost in its entirety.
I always emphasize it in all my reviews, the musicalization could be said that it is the most important aspect for any game, because thanks to music can transmit infinities of feelings ranging from happiness, sadness or epicness, besides that this helps the immersion of the player towards the world that presents the game. As expected Chrono Cross is one of those games that knows how to transmit all that I mentioned before, and without further ado I invite you to listen to his fantastic soundtrack:
With respect to its gameplay stays the same with respect to many RPG of the size of final fantasy, battles by turns where we can choose to 3 characters to fight at the same time, but still maintaining the essence of Chrono Trigger, but as a chrono trigger to the enemies we can see them on the map so in some cases we can dodge them to avoid a fight, although in the same way there are other enemies that can persecute us thus forcing a fight.
Something not used so much in this game, as if done in Chrono Trigger are double and triple attacks between the characters, that was a characteristic aspect of Chrono Trigger, although in chrono cross this modality is maintained during our departure are few times that it has of utility, in that aspect Chrono Cross chose a more classic game mode of RPG.
In my opinion, Chrono Cross is a game quite forgotten and was not given the merit it deserves, although also in my opinion its predecessor is a better game, Chrono Cross is quite recommendable for all those people who want to know a little more about it which happened in history after Chrono Trigger.
