"Don't take shelter. Make it."
-Fortnite
Epic Games' Fortnite is a sandbox survival game where you can build shelter to defend against zombies attack, or in this game these "zombies" called Husks, which were once humans turned into monsters because of some infection that comes in many different types from Pitcher Husks that will throw a baseball at you for some reason to Elemental Husks that hate your shelter so much they deal double damage to it.
With that kind of enemy, and the 4 players co-op gameplay surviving zombie (Husks!) horde attack, the thought that Fortnite looks like a cartoony version of Left4Dead but with building shelter maybe popped in mind. And by shelter I mean fortress, a durable DIY fortress filled with traps defended by Ninjas, Soldiers, Outlanders and Constructors.
But soon, Fortnite will looked more like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds where you won't be fighting Pitcher or Elemental Husks, but nice or salty players instead. It will still have its fortress-building gameplay of course. On 26 September 2017 Epic Games will launch Fortnite Battle Royale where 100 players will be dropped on a giant map to fight each other to be the last one standing. And.. It's free!
Fortnite Battle Royale is a free to play 100 player PvP mode separated game from the original Fortnite. It will be available for free for everybody on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Mac. Looks like this is the first free to play Battle Royale game, isn't it?
On Epic Games' latest Fortnite Battle Royale announcement stated there that the only stuff for sale in game will be cosmetics, no items that will give you competitive advantage, which is good to hear.
Also, you don't need to purchase the original Fortnite to be able to play this one, but for those who already make the purchase to anticipate Fortnite Battle Royale (purchased between 12 and 20 September), just contact Epic Games and you'll have your refund. You can download the Battle Royale only through Epic Games Launcher, PlayStation Store and Xbox Store.
Fun fact:
One of the (possibly) several reasons why Epic Games decided to create a Battle Royale mode for Fortnite is simply because they love Battle Royale games like PUBG and they thought Fortnite would be great for their own Battle Royale game.
