I don't play every day or anything. I tend to do stuff like exercise and drink beer and video games are kind of a last resort type thing. So I have been casually playing this game for 3 weeks and I gotta say - this is a very difficult game.
For those that don't know, Dead Cells is a 2-d side-scrolling platformer that is filled with gore and functions a bit like a metroidvania experience with hints of random-drop Diablo-ness. That make any sense?
What makes the game so difficult is that unless i am missing some sort of extremely well hidden secret, there is no way to memorize the levels because they are compiled in a random fashion every single time. What enemies you encounter and where are also completely random although there are restrictions on what level of baddie you meet depending on which level you are in.
You also perma-die in this game, all your forward progress is lost, and you don't keep any of the items that you had gathered during that run. That's right... you have to go all the way through the game from start to finish without dying in order to beat the game.

So far i have made it past the second boss and then went a bit further and that was it. I encountered this new enemy that starts some sort of fire maelstrom that sucks you in and it is unblockable. I can see that I am not going to like those guys very much.
There are some upgrades but for the most part you start each run out with almost nothing and it can be a little frustrating because if they don't drop the weapon you like, you could get stuck arming yourself with something you would rather not. Of course you can always restart the game, which is what most seasoned vets will do but if that is what happens why not just let us choose which one we want rather than forcing a restart waiting for RNG to drop what we want? Seems a bit dumb to me. Anyway, i like this game but to be honest I don't really think I stand much chance of ever finishing it. I am just not dedicated enough. In the meantime i still enjoy playing it!
