Growing up, I was very fortunate to get a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) very young, followed by a Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, N64, Nintendo Game Cube, and then the series of Xbox consoles and Playstations. My real draw to games came from our PC though. I first learned how to use a computer mouse on an old Apple IIE computer using 5 1/4 inch floppy disks to play games or use programs. I'm am thankful that I still have that computer and it is functional. My all time favorite game to play on it is still Might & Magic.
One of the most valuable things I have earned over the decades of growing up playing video games are the great memories that I have playing those games with my mom, brothers, and friends that nobody can take away from me. Now that I am older and time seems to be much more scarce, I have a difficult time playing a game where there is no added benefit of achieving in-game goals other then a sense of self-satisfaction. Once Splinterlands came out and I saw that you could play an amazing game that you were rewarded for your time spent playing and could earn money in the form of crypto, I was hooked!
I feel like this model of gaming will become the next evolution to the gaming world to where players are rewarded for their time playing the game. Another example that is on a different blockchain than Hive is Intergalactic Gaming, which pays players in their tournaments of games such as Call of Duty and Fifa in IGG, which is another cryptocurrency that has recently increased over 200% in the last week.
Very exciting time for gaming enthusiasts!
