It was... interesting. I will say that much.

The North American servers opened at 3am my time, and I happily slept right through. Sleep is my friend. Sleep is everyone's friend! Enjoy your sleep, people; indulge in it.
As a result when I finally woke up, did my morning chores, routines, and found time to sit at the laptop, I found myself in a fairly large queue. Not unexpected. We took my son to school, went to the shops, etc, and by the time we got home I was at a far more favourable spot:
Ironically, all I wanted to do was log onto the server to delete my character. So I could remake her on Wynn where all of my guild were. Apparently you can only have two characters per account, and neither of my two characters were on the correct server thanks to the Name Reservation Debacle I experienced at 3am yesterday.
So I waited. I chatted in Discord to my fellow guildians. Waited some more. And then I finally got in! Only, there was a new change of plans. Delete and re-roll onto the brand new server that had sprung up thanks to server queues... the server: Kaylin. The whole guild was moving there. It was launching at 1pm AEST time and we would all be ready!
Kaylin. Such a perfect name for a server given my Kaelci and the fact one of the protagonists in the book that's lurking inside me is a Caelin. It was fitting and I was excited to roll my character there.
Thanks to already deleting my character for Wynn purposes, I was all ready and raring to jump onto the new server and create! And I created my new kitty quite happily. Until literally five minutes later when it was announced in Discord that the guild wanted to change to the West faction.
There are no cat people on the West faction
I was quite annoyed, to say the least. The whole reason I joined this guild was because they advertised themselves as East, therefore I could be a cat-person, and they were casual-friendly. With that one sudden and very unexpected change of plans, I apologised to the guild-leader and said my goodbyes.
So much hassle to finally be on the same server as my guild members, and now they're no longer my guild.

At least when I finally got into the game I had my cat friends to keep me company.
The last time I played Archeage was back in 2013, the month it was released. So many things have changed since then and it basically feels like a brand new game to me.
Finding armour out in the wild seems meaningless now, since you get upgradable weapons and armour in your first few quests, so it all gets vendored. Apparently you can 'disenchant' them somehow, but I'm still learning how to do that.
Actually, all skill things I'm trying to learn how to do. I've mined a couple of things out in the wild and found some iron ore and raw stone, but have no idea how to learn blacksmithing or masonry to even craft with them. I've found random plants out in the wild that I've harvested and am keeping on the off-chance I can extract seeds from them and plant them myself. But the old farming quests seem to have vanished or moved elsewhere.
You can't just talk to a blacksmith and be all, "Yo, teach me how to smith!" neither can you do such a thing with alchemy, or handicrafts, or furniture making, or cooking or anything. So I'm at a complete loss. Not even the almighty Google has been able to help me work out skill proficiencies. There are plenty of skill levelling guides, but nothing tells me how to learn the skill.
Even Aion, another Korean game, has NPC's that teach you these things. Ugh.
One of the things I was highly concerned about in this new version of Archeage was labor points. So far I'm pleased that I haven't had any issue with them!
They seem to be regenerating at a decent speed, they generate while you're offline also, and you're able to get more of them with the ArchePass once you hit level 30. I was mining and picking plants and upgrading my gear and opening coinpurses and random crates, and I haven't yet had a problem.
We'll see how that works out when I have my own farm and will be using them to plant and harvest every day.... but at the moment I'm cautiously optimistic.
Cautiously optimistic...
I was also cautiously optimistic that I wouldn't suffer the same problems as everyone else. I didn't get the labor regen bug that other people had, but then my sound stopped for no apparent reason.
All was silent. Deathly silent.
I didn't want to restart my client for obvious reasons.
And then... an hour later... the Gods decided I was no longer worthy of being on the server.
Which wasn't too bad. I had reached level 18 and it was dinner time. π
Maybe tomorrow I can at last work out how to do some form of crafting. I have the gathering down pat, but the crafting! I need to craft. Here's hoping there are instructor NPC's in the next zone. But it makes little sense. There are different skill crafting tables in a few of the places I've visited... and I can't use them. Seems silly having them there if they can't be used.
I will work this out.
And maybe while I'm sleeping tonight, the North American servers will endure maintenance and I will awaken to a freshly restarted playground with no bugs or glitches. ππ
And maybe tomorrow, the Gods will like me...
Β
Until next time!
Thank you for stopping by! π
