It's been three days and I've clocked 29 hours. š¬
To be fair, 9 of those hours were likely me idling in the pause menu while taking my son to school, shopping, being at a couple of appointments, and checking out a few Christmassy-Decorated-Houses in the neighbourhood, but still. 29 hours!
29 hours and I'm almost finished Month 2 of Year 1.
This pleases me.
By my calculations, surely that means that by the time I get to the end of Year 1, I'll have clocked 180 hours. š And, according to the game's Reddit page, most people don't "finish" the game until Year 3 or 4.
That also pleases me!
As I've been playing I can't help but compare certain things to Stardew Valley... most notably is the ability to slow the speed of your days!!! I had to get a mod for that in SDV.
It's fantastic. Moving that slider bar has doubled the length of my days.
(As opposed to the screenshot, I'm currently playing with the game speed set alllllll the way to the left.)
Now I can get things done AND socialise with all the towns people! Fantastic!
Also, when you raise your friendship with a person, your relationship also goes up with that person's family and friends!! Another thing I needed to get a mod for in SDV.
The combat is also much better. I've already mentioned the fishing and mining in my last post. But I have to again. It's just so... immersive. You're actually in combat with things, you're actually mining your own tunnels, you're actually pulling the fish towards you.
I love it.
But, the combat. So, there was a martial arts competition. You sign up, bet on who's going to win each round, and you can also bet on yourself! Which obviously I did, since I am the greatest. š
There are proper dungeon thingies you can go through! I've just reached level 3 in these abandoned sewers and found loots and killed things and also fought a big arse boss at the end.
I AM THE CHAMPION.
Anyway.
I am truly loving this game at the moment. I've got NO complaints about it yet. Apart from the towns people being a bit too "sickeningly sweet."
They're too nice!!
There are no real personalities. Just sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, one grumpy old man, more sweet, high and mighty Sam the Civil Corps Lady, more sweet, sweet, sweet, Strongest Manly Man In Town, sweet, and finally, The Other Builder, Your Nemesis.
Higgins thinks he's the greatest builder in all the land.
NOT FOR LONG, SUCKAH!
I'm building all the transports in town. ALL of them! (well, 4 out of 5 ain't bad.)
And soon, all shall know myyyyy builder as the greatest! Muahaha!
The Greatest.
But anyway, because the towns people are so sweet, it's hard to choose who my eventual husband will be in-game.
So far Oaks seems pretty interesting, mostly because he was an orphan raised by a bear. Or Arlo, because he's the spiffier member of the Civil Corps. I don't know.
Maybe their personalities will improve as you get to know them and they stop "acting" so horribly sweety overly-nice. Or maybe my character will just become an old maid and ignore that part of the game.
That's unlikely. I like the marriage system in these types of games.
Also Arlo helped my lady shoo away thievin' scumbags so he's in the lead at the moment. š
