Star Wars: the Old Republic was released in 2011. I was in the beta. I am a Founder. I've been playing for years. And it's only now that I'm finally attempting the Republic-side stories, determined to complete them and at last attain my golden Legendary nameplate.
I have tried them before but none of them really compared to the Imperial-side stories. And I got bored. Until now, the Smuggler was the only one that kept my interest long enough to actually finish the class story. The Trooper never interested me. I barely made it past Chapter One on the Consular. And I kept trying and trying the Knight, but could never even finish the first chapter.
But finally, I have forced myself through the boring Chapter One and now the end is in sight. I have begun Chapter Three and soon I'll only need to complete two more Republic-side stories.
All for this:

I know. It's not that exciting. But I like to think that since I've been playing since the game first launched, I really should have the damned thing.
So these last few days, while waiting for Archeage Unchained's release (tomorrow!), I dove back into the Star Wars universe, and made my fiftieth Jedi Knight. Lucky number fifty! I want to say that it's an exaggerated number, but it's not. In fact, it could even be my seventieth Jedi Knight, but let's just stick with fifty.
Fifty is a good number.
This is Ellukha Kael, a Jedi Knight who can't dance, harbours occasional sarcasm, and is mostly light-side but falls into horrible, terrible, outrageous emotions quite easily and often. Emotions! You know. Bane of the Jedi.
She has a wise-crackin' padawan who used to be a sith. A helpful robot. A walking, talking, flirting doctor who the game is trying to push her to romance despite all of her protestations. A sergeant who is unfit to lead. And the former Emperor's Wrath whose title gets taken by the Sith Warrior's class-story.
All the companions are well and good, but ultimately useless once Lana and Theron get thrown at her and she sinks her claws into them... not that she has claws.
So, fully aware of her future, these poor peons have all been relegated to credit-making duties unless otherwise required.
By the time she's finished these latest expansions, she should have acquired a good twenty million or so to add to the Kael Legacy Coffers. Wonderful! Especially since she'll probably be my only Republic character to make it that far. Everyone else on Republic-side can just stop when their original class stories end.
But I have plans for Jedi Knight Ellukha. She has a Jedi Grandmaster's son to woo and a twi'lek chancellor to punch. That's really it. The cherry on her story. Punching Saresh right in her obnoxious twi'lek face.
I was going to stop playing Star Wars tomorrow and get started on Archeage Unchained, which I am super-hyped about and have been looking forward to for ages now. But it's been a right struggle trying to reserve my character, and my character's name, or even a place on the server I want to be a part of so I can be with the guild I've been chatting with and getting to know for the past fortnight.
Reservations keep opening at 10am PDT, which is 3am my time. And this morning's was the last one before launch. To be honest, even if I were on that timezone 10am is a terrible time too. People work and have lives, you know?
Last night I did the unthinkable. Something I haven't done since my twenties... I stayed up all night for a dang videogame.
The server was full in seconds.
Even though I already had my character template made and just needed to upload it, name it, and submit it, I was not quick enough.
I just sat there, stunned, wondering how it could even be possible. But no, Discord was scrolling with people as horrified as myself, all of them complaining about the tiny window of opportunity that had been available and was missed.
I stayed up all night for nothing. My precious sleep was squandered. And I don't think you realise just how much I truly love my sleeping hours. π
So now part of me doesn't even want to play Archeage Unchained at launch. I might just wait a fortnight or so for the masses to calm their respective farms and let other people log in to the damned game.
My Jedi will be pleased, though. π
For she has seen the future. She's going to argue with Lana about who wears their hair better, and she's going to flirt with Theron despite her doctor's incessant advances. All details in the above screenshot have been envisioned and all will come to pass!
(Except the Imperial flags. She will ignore those. She won't be defecting in Onslaught. A pity -- Empire is better.)
Β
Until next time!
Thank you for stopping by! π
