My partner and I finished playing It Takes Two, and we absolutely love it. I highly recommend it for couple friends.
What makes this game unique is you HAVE to play with two people. It’s not like a Halo campaign where you can play with two players. You have to play with two players — it literally “takes two.” It’s one of the most creative games I’ve ever played. It never gets old because you have different abilities that only exist in certain levels, and then there are puzzles that can’t be solved without both of you.
What’s really great is you’re playing as a couple who are having major communication issues, and this game will force you as you play to communicate clearly. The other person playing doesn’t see what you see, so you can’t just say “go to that square over there.”
It also doesn’t require that the two of you be “gamers.” My nephews played with us, and one of them is 9. It’s a great non-gamer game, and it has all kinds of references throughout for those of us who grew up gaming, including Mario Kart, classic arcade fighting games, and even Gauntlet.
Main critique is the ending is super abrupt. It just happens, and we figured we’d have some kind of boss fight or something.
Still, I highly recommend.
