When you first get your VR headset and try out your first games there is a serious “WOW” factor associated with your initial experience in VR. After you play a few games though, and time goes on, that “WOW” factor begins to fade. I’m sure you’ve heard people complaining about this or that game saying, ”Oh…another wave shooter…ugh…”. In my list of the top 10 games I’ve played in VR (in no particular order) I give you my opinion of the best games out there from someone who’s played most of what’s out there so you can hopefully be happy with your next game purchase.
- Raw Data
This game is a well-polished futuristic shooter. The theme of the game is that you are on a mission to help recover some data on a corrupt tech company that is sending hordes of robots and drones to kill you. It’s a pretty simple game, in the earlier levels you are in a single large space and fight off waves of robots with increasing difficulty. And, in later stages you fight in open environments doing more of the same. It’s not a very complicated game but it was well done with both quality graphics and smooth gameplay.
- Sariento
This game has come a long way from its humble beginnings in early access. You play as a futuristic ninja that can use both swords or dueling pistols (or a combination of the two) as you battle futuristic renditions of ancient Japanese villains. One of the things that makes this game really stand out is the feature of being able to jump as a means of teleportation. You can do up to two jumps in midair which make for exciting fast gameplay.
- from other suns
If you are a fan of Star Trek and Star Wars then this game is for you. The plot is that there are aliens hell bent on destroying earth and you have to jump from planet to planet with your space ship to intercept and stop them. You play the captain of a ship (or a crew member in multiplayer) and you basically go from planet to planet usually encountering a different spaceship at each stop where their either want to buy or sell you something, or they’re a pirate and want to take something from you. In most of the cases you have the option to fire on their ship or board it and fight its inhabitants. This is a very well polished game with a lot of content to go through.
- Gorn
This game was made by the same people who also made the awesome game “BroForce”. It’s an over the top physics based gladiator game where you use various weapons to stab, slash, and bash your way to the top.
- robo recall
This game is free on the oculus store with the purchase of the touch controllers yet it’s probably one of the best shooter games to date. It only has 3 separate levels (with 3 sublevels to each) but the level of detail and quality in the game holds up against anything I’ve played to date. The premise of the game is that the robots have rebelled (against other robots apparently because you’re one too) and your job is to “recall” the rouge robots (by blowing them up). It’s loads of fun and has replayablity to it.
- Bullet sorrow
This is one of the earlier games to come out with motion controller support. It is a very well done simple shooter where you teleport to pre-approved locations providing you with cover as you battle waves of military personal, robots, and some ninja types. Solid game with smooth action.
- Artika 1
This game feels very similar to Bullet Sorrow but is still a good game on its own. In this game you travel around a frozen wasteland killing military type enemies teleporting to various pre-approved locations throughout each stage. You get a decent amount of different weapons to choose from ranging from machine guns to phasers. The graphics are highly polish, the action and level design are good, it’s an overall decent game.
3.Primordian
This a the newest game on the list and I think is a taste of the next generation of VR adventure games. The game itself is a bit buggy as it’s in early access but it has some of the best graphics and environments I’ve seen so far in VR. The story takes place in an Avatar like lush jungle where you play the role of a Goro (from Mortal Kombat)/predator looking creature who slashes, blasts, and sic’s insects on his enemies to restore the former glory of your ancient race.
- Dead Effect 2 VR
This game was previously released without vr and has since been modded to allow for the use of motion controllers and with VR support. The story is silly, you’re apparently fighting zombies in outer space. However, the free roaming and gun mechanics make this game awesome.
1.Eternity Warriors
This game is one of the cheapest of the bunch coming in at only $14.99 but may have some of the best graphics of them all. There really isn’t any storyline to go with this one. You just seem to go from one dark and errie looking environment to another shooting or slashing ghouls of various forms from location to location. There isn’t any move mechanics here but the action is intense and that makes the experience immersive. Definitely worth a look.
I know there are some other great games out there right now but these are pretty solid titles that I really enjoyed playing. If you liked my pics and think others will too don't forget to Resteem (it helps!)
