This has been the least successful garage sale season I've experienced so far, where even finding Wii games is a rare occurrence. I had already resigned myself to the fact that this season was going to be pretty fruitless, but we keep going out anyway. Lowering expectations can be helpful to ward off disappointment.
However, this weekend we happened to hit a garage sale that had the best collection of Playstation and Playstation 2 stuff I've ever discovered. Nearly 60 games split between the PS1 and PS2 and mostly great titles -- not much filler at all.
The Playstation 1 jackpot
Tons of fantastic games, most of which I didn't already own. Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX and Tactics, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Musashi, Star Ocean, Legend of Dragoon, Tekken 1-3, four Crash Bandicoot games and more.
The Playstation 2 haul
Not as impressive as the PS1 games, but loads of good ones. Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2, Champions of Norrath and its sequel, Harvest Moon, 2 Gundam titles, Star Wars Battlefront 1& 2 and all four Ratchet and Clank games.
Strategy guides
A bunch of well cared for PS1 strategy guides for the games in this lot. All of these games are adult owned from a seller.
Even more
Not pictured, there was also a Playstation 2 console, plus extra controllers and a bunch of memory cards, a PS2 DVD remote and other odds and ends.
So this ended up being one of the greatest finds from a garage sale I've ever found. And what's funny is that it was just two doors down from house, on the same block where I live!
So I guess the moral of the story is, don't give up. You might stumble across something great by accident or your next big score might be right under your nose.
