I am going to tell you how to set up SSBM (super smash brothers melee) online.
or ( technically any online gamecube game)
Use FM only for melee Look down below for a different version to play online gamecube games.
There is a huge community right now that is currently playing SSBM right now. People host online tournaments. Do money matches. Compete in online brackets and ranks. Even the top players are starting to go to online because there is less of a hassle playing online then it is going to a local tournament. Some people will drive 3-4 hours to play at one event and this gets rid of all of that.
What you will need.
Faster melee gamecube emulator. Or Just dolphin which is the emulation program of the nintendo gamecube.
FM Version 4.4 the one that people mostly use.

FM Version 5.0.3 Which plays the game almost identical to playing it on gamecube.

This is how you get the game.
You technically do not need to do this because only one person needs to have a game to play online.
You need The ISO for ssbm.
There is a specific version of the ISO people like to use it is ssbm v 1.02

A controller
And a internet connection.
Just making the game work.
1. Make a folder somewhere on the computer in a place that you will remember it.
Extract the Emulator into the folder.
2. Put the iso into the folder or make a folder just for isos or just the game.
3. Click on the emulator and go to graphics and unclick use fullscreen.
(That is if you choose to not use fullscreen)
4. Go to config- the little tiny list thingy and look at paths. Add the path that to the direct folder of where you installed the SSBM ISO at.
5. Go to controllers tab at the top and this emulator will work with any modern controller usually. You click on the button that is on the gamecube and select the corresponding button on your controller. If the controller is not working with it you would have to download XBOX or PS4 360 ps3 driver for the computer install it and calibrate the controller. If it still does not work contact me I will help you step by step.
Netplay.
1. Go to the tiny tool tab at top 2. Select start netplay.
If hosting you go to the little box and you select super smash brothers melee.
You go to the side of the program and you should see a little list of numbers- You click copy and give the number to your opponent. If joining then get the code from the other person and put it in the little box.
3. the program should flash and you should see the opponent in your lobby. Or a little screen will pop
If they cannot connect then there is a sever problem orrrrrrr you guys have different versions of dolphin.
4. You see the buffer at the bottom. What I do is take the ping number plus 2= Ping = 50 ping = 5 buffer so it would equal 7 buffer. Though you can tweak it anyway you want to make it work
You start it up
There will be a tiny delay.
The game will load and then you can play!
Taadaa you can now play melee till the end of time.
SOON you could be kicking everybodies ass with pikachu just like this guy.
