Every once in a while, you see a photo that sticks with you no matter how much time passes.
One day, I checked on a few friends and came across a photo taken by a lady named Mary Hockenberry. I can not show the image because it is copyrighted and was posted illegally on another platform. I would highly suggest checking out Mary Hockenberrys Flicker account and all her really cool photos.
The photo you will find in the link above kept begging me to try and build it in Sims 4. The house had a story to tell. It kept showing up over and over again until I finally started to make it in the Sims 4. Working within the limits of the Sims 4, the house I built retained the spirit of the original.
One of the frustrating things about building in The Sims 4 is the limited roofing choices, and my building skill level plays a part also. Yet, I am proud of how it turned out.
I love how the floor plan turned out. Upon entering the house, you find yourself in a welcoming kitchen with plenty of room to cook and socialize with friends. The vast dining room table can seat up to eight people, making it perfect for a large family or dinner party.
The cozy yet whimsical living room gives the house the warmth it needs to turn it into a home. I can see myself curled up in a chair reading or knitting the day away while it snows outside.
The master bedroom is large enough for a home office with room to spare. I loved playing with the different hues of blue in this room to see if I could still make it feel warm and inviting. I think it worked out well.
The second bedroom is a part guest room, children's room, and the must-needed handyman's workbench so you can fix all of the broken toilets, sinks, and refrigerators while playing the game.
When decorating it, I pictured a young husband and wife so excited to start their own family they got a tad ahead of themselves when decorating the extra bedroom.
The only room on the third floor would be where you would find me if I had grown up in this house. A quiet, cozy reading area where your imagination would have the freedom to run wild. Opening the door to the small balcony for fresh air would be heaven on a warm summer night.
It is an understatement to say I had fun building this house and dreaming about how it would be to live in it. Adding the new Cottage Living animals and plants next to the house was a bonus. I can not wait to make a family and move them in. It will be fun to see how their lives turn out being farmers.
Help someone smile today. It can not hurt you.
