My Mother has moved in with me until her place in Wisconsin is ready. At night after she has gone to bed, I have been watching some Twitch streamers playing games. One game on everyone's lips is called Baldur's Gate III. It is a CRPG game. The lore is straight from Dungeons & Dragons. The hype around this game has been everywhere. I watched a few videos on it, and it seemed cool. It looked like a game I could have fun playing too.
The next day I watched many people playing the newly finished game. No one person had a bad thing to say about it. If you know gamers, you know they can always find something to complain about in a game. Always.
The customization for your character runs deep. Depending on your character and the choices you make along the way will determine your storyline in the game. You can play with friends or solo and pick up NPC companions.
The world is vast and has depth. I wanted to get my hands on it badly, but with everything going on, the money wasn't there. I sighed and wrote the name of the game down in my book.
Then...
A funny thing happened to me late that night. I was cleaning up my emails, and what did I see? Yes, another message from Bittrex telling me I could not use them anymore because I live in the USA. I went to delete the email but stopped. This letter was worded to sound like I had money still in my Bittrex account. Last I looked, there were pennies.
A login, a authenticate number, an email, and another number, finally let me back into my account. Yes, swear words could be heard too. Then the funniest thing happened. My pennies of BTC had turned into more than pennies. So many, in fact, I was trying to figure out how and where to send this magic money I now found myself with.
Now remember it was 3:00am when this problem came to me. The logical answer to me was to send it to the poker site I use. I knew it would be safe there because the site did not care if you were from the USA. Once rested, I would talk to a friend to help move the money to a better place.
I slept after a few more hours of watching others play Baldur's Gate III.
I woke up refreshed in my quiet house. My Mom had left for her trip with her sister for a week. I wrote a few DM's and asked how my friends were. I told my son about the new game I thought he would love and sent him some videos. After all that, I jumped on a call with a friend and filled their ears about what had gone on the last few days.
The next thing I knew, I owned a copy of the year's hottest game and was out of poker money. I was a very happy camper!
A person would think I would have jumped right into that game I wanted, but I didn't. I knew I had not played a game like that in a very long time. I wanted to play when I knew the phone would not ring or anything would happen to break my concentration.
Night came, and I loaded the game. I had found a Spec I wanted to try out. I made my character and was on my way! I smiled while watching the cinematic play. I had seen enough of the game's tutorial phase to know what was coming. I had problems getting the camera to go where I wanted it to so I could see. This made me laugh! The first RPG game I ever played took me an hour to turn around and walk away from the wall I had been facing.
I was in no hurry. I was just there to have fun. I knew it would take some time to learn a new game. I knew I was smart enough to be able to do that. The game didn't disappoint. When I finally came up for air, almost two hours had passed in a flash. I was tired and happy and went to sleep smiling, knowing the magic money was well spent.
I made a short video of my first night of gameplay. The ending of the video is the best. The rest of the video will give you a good glimpse into the graphics and tone of the game. If you are playing it or starting, let me know!! And I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.
Help someone smile today. It can not hurt you.
