For years my son has been a big fan of "Blind Bag / Blind Box" collectibles. When he was younger we used to get him Kinder Surprise eggs as a treat for good behavior, they are hollow chocolate eggs with a little toy inside. In time he started looking up the videos on YouTube of other kids opening then which led to other items like Minecraft mini-figures. He continues to collect mini-figures from various games and loves the thrill of opening the blind bags and not knowing what he will get inside.
This past weekend we swung by our local Target store to pick up a few more for him and I noticed a small batch of Overwatch blind boxes on the bottom shelf. We checked them out and I asked if he wanted one, but since they were more expensive than the others he was going for he decided to pass on them.
He's young, but he understands the balance of higher price = less items when you have a set budget.
So, as he went on his way choosing the items he wanted, I decided I will buy two for me since I have become a fan of the game over the last few months. I was hoping to get Soldier:76 or Reinhardt since I play those heroes most often, but unfortunately Reinhardt isn't an option in the series.
I opened my two boxes and got Reaper first, and then D.Va, which was kinda cool since they are the characters shown on the front of the box. They now sit on my desk next to my monitor on top of the box.
This is where the corporate machine wins... 'cause you know I have to go buy more until I get the Soldier:76 character I wanted. 😁 Must resist!!!
Now I know how my son feels trying to hunt down a Rare Gold MineCraft Enderman.
