What Is In Store For The Future?
Tsuyoshi “John” Kodera, head of Sony's PlayStation division, has stated that the next generation PlayStation is currently three years away.
"“We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future,” said Kodera. This timeline is slightly longer between console releases than gamers are used to, with previous releases occurring every 6 to 7 years.
Mobile Capabilities
Sony has previously hinted that they are interested in expanding the next generation of consoles to be more friendly to mobile gaming. The PlayStation Vita is currently available, but the company has stated that they do not want to be restricted to this device, as the capabilities of it do not mach the PS4. “We need a broader perspective than that because so many things are now connected via the internet,” Kodera stated.
