"The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him."

Red Dead Redemption is one of the most successful console games ever launched. It originally released in May 2010 and the sequel was launched October 2018.
Rumors were swirling prior to the release that a PC version would be coming in the future. Although Rockstar Games denied this, there is now an official confirmation and release date.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has 10/10 IGN.com rating and 97% overall.
Red Dead Redemption is a prequel to the first installment and follows the gang buddy of the original's main protagonist 12 years earlier.
There are a few complaints about the pacing of the game that don't seem to be reflected in the score of the game. I have read a few mentioning the game is slower than the first and you are tasked with a lot of chores like care and feeding of your horse.
Some seem to be disappointed you can no longer cheat in poker like you could in the original.
It is estimated most people will spend around 45-65 hours on the main story and as much as 152 hours if you follow a lot of the side quests and stories. A completist can expect as much as 265 hours of playtime to finish all the achievements and side quests. There is a lot of game for your money, but keep in mind, a lot of this time is spent doing chores and grinding.
I hear the scenery is breathtaking and expansive. You will spend a lot of time exploring horseback throughout the countryside.
