Who says video games are unhealthy for you. Okay sitting for x amount of hours is not good for you and you just break to stretch once every couple hours. But there were some games that were physical, so much so they could actually keep you in shape. I remember losing a lot of weight playing DDR on a mat. And yes I probably should not have admitted that publicly :p. Here are three games/accessories that could help you tone as you played.
The Nintendo Power Pad
Back in the Nintendo days there were a lot of peripherals. Some were awesome like the light gun and some, like the power glove, didn't work so well. If I recall the power pad was in the middle. You put in on the floor and you could run and jump on it. It registered your foot movements, not that accurately, but pretty cool for the nes days. I had this running game for it where you raced different animals. There was even a mode with hurdles on it. You could really work up a sweat on that thing.
DDR
No I was not one of those arcade pros who could master two pads by myself. But when it came out as a home version for the ps2 and I could play in the privacy of my own house I kinda got into it. I hid it when friends got over but alone I rocked it :p. Yeah that was a joke my friends couldn't care less. It doesn't seem like a big work-out with only four arrows to press with your feet but faster songs really got you moving. I lost a lot of weight with that game, maybe I need to replay it.
Wii
The wii was good for toning. There was sports games that got your upper body moving and a mat for yoga. I learned some poses with it. It was not a heavy cardio machine but a fun way to be active. Now they moved to the switch, which is awesome, but doesn't bring that physicality to it. In fact it.
Any I missed you want to add?
