Hello everyone
I may have spent a little bit too much time on a certain game recently. It's called Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and you might have heard about it by now.
As you may already know, I love CS:GO. It's been the first-person shooter that I have spent the most time playing. I have probably over 2000 hours on it. I've basically been addicted to it, because no other fps has peaked my interest and kept it.
Until everyone in my Discord chat started playing Siege, and I decided to give in and get it. I gamed for 7 hours straight that night, and I had fun the entire time.
The game feels a bit like CS:GO, but a lot more strategical, and chaotic. There are gadgets that can be used, and every operator has their own special ability.
There are operators that are specifically attack or defense, and their abilities are set up for that specific role. There are plenty of operators to choose from, so you probably won't get bored. You have to unlock them with earned renown points, which don't seem to take too long to get.
Recruit is the first operator you get, and although he doesn't have any special abilities, he still has useful items, such a grenades, traps, shields, etc...
I remember reading a review that said you will kill your teammates, you will kill the hostage, you will kill yourself, etc... and I realized the honesty of that review. I killed the hostage during one of my first matches. I thought he was a bad guy... haha. I flashed my teammates, killed them with grenades, and also got killed by them the same ways. It's total chaos a lot of the time.
I was lucky and had a 5-man squad of friends most of the time playing, but even when solo-queuing I never really encountered much toxicity. Not as much as CS:GO at least. When we had a random fill in, they were more than willing to join us in our random tactics, and bullshittery.
I love the maps, and the way that you have to strategically approach your objective. Almost every wall, floor, or ceiling is breakable, and you can rappel up the sides of buildings and shoot someone while upside down. The maps are detailed, realistic, and you really do gain an advantage once you memorize them.
You have to use drones and cameras to gain intel during a match, and they can both be destroyed by the enemy team. If you don't find the location of the bomb, or hostage with your drone, you have to personally search for it, which is more dangerous, and wastes valuable time.
Also, if you accidentally kill the hostage, you lose. So, you have to be extra careful with explosives on a hostage map. Not to mention, the fact that you can shoot through walls.
This game is exactly what I've been craving. Something a little more strategical than CS:GO, but not quite CoD. I feel like I'm going to put a loooot of hours into this game. It's been a lot of laughs playing it with friends, and I haven't gotten bored of it yet (after 31 hours).
I think I'll make a highlight video to share some of my in-game moments with everyone. :]
