Mid September to mid October is the best time for planting your spring bulbs
Often we plant either Daffodils or Tulips. But really its a time to try many different bulbs
Many people get to this time of year and almost give up on their garden till next spring. But this is the ideal time for planning next years early spring flower show. I normally have the proverbial yellow daffodils which come up year after year. I'm not one for lifting and replanting. I like to plant my bulbs and just leave them.
I have tried the different tulips from time to time but never had much luck after the first season.
This year I'm trying a few different bulbs including Allium's and Lilies
I have 2 different Allium's..
Purple Sensation. Grow to a hight of 90cm
Aflatuense. Which grow to a hight of 60cm. Both planted at 10cm deep
The lilies are Mont Blanc white Lilie's. Planting these to a depth of 25cm. they should achieve a hight of 90cm.
I'll do an update in spring and see how we get on
