Earlier this year, I posted about my new woodchipper.
Today, it's broken.
It ran fine.
Then, I noticed some metallic dust around the belt cover.
I hoped, it was just the belt grinding on the cover or something...
Busted.
Googled some... Turns out: The upper roll constains a clutch(?)
And it's all loose and probably totally done.
That's a 100€ part, if I can even get it.
I don't even understand this, because it's a 4 stroke engine and I thought it needed the blades as rotating mass for the compression stroke or whatever...
I don't even know how to get the belt off, short of unbolting the engine from the frame, since there is no tensioner roll.
So instead, I went home.
I got like 4-5 hours operating time out of it.
I wonder, if I should have tried to rev it more, so the clutch would fully engage?
Or it was something the seller knew.
He told me all about the engine and the belt and whatnot, but never mentioned a clutch.
I'm none the wiser and will have to take it apart, I guess.
