This next part of the series will be an extensive look at how I started growing money in my yard. I have been working hard to create lots of original media and images for this next part and it's likely to be 7,000 words+. I am excited to include some user commentary from the previous part of this series and I will aim to address some of the requests of my readers in this next part.

Now, Who's Ready for Some Garden Updates?

Our sweet corn is finished for the year and that makes me sad...BUT, I did stuff the freezer full for a rainy day 😆. This year we grew several varieties: Farmer's First Harvest, Silver Queen, Golden Queen, and Silver and Gold. The Silver and Gold is my favorite this year. The deer love to bed in the corn, so you have to beat them to the fresh ears - they love to nibble the ends off.

The Watermelons Decided They're Not Done Yet

A quick check on the Crimson Sweet watermelons that we grew this year revealed there is more fruit on the way! My neighbors brought over some giant melons they had grown, but they have already pulled the plants. I guess I'll have to see if these will finish up for us in time to enojy them.

Peppers are finishing up

The peppers got a bit of a late start this year, but we were able to stock about 20lbs. in the freezer. We gave away many types of our peppers to our tomato customers. Basil, peppers, and tomatoes make one great combo pack!!

The peppers are still putting out flowers, but I'm not sure how much longer they will produce - weather has been dipping into the low 50ºf range at night.

Tomatoes are still boomin' like crazy!!

We have some mega-maters almost ready to pick!

The Bees Are Still Very Busy!

The 'Velvet Queen' sunflower is a branching variety that showcases sunburst-red colored petals and is a favorite of all kinds of bees. I have seen more bee activity this year than I have in several years. This sunflower really does a great job attracting pollinators and occupies pests. Anything that keeps the bugs off of my tomato plants is a keeper!
