Hello everyone and welcome to my first garden update this month. There's nothing too exciting to share, just a few growth changes on fruits and veggies I have noticed since the last update.
We are still facing weather changes but the last couple of days have been nice and sunny. Garden is getting greener, especially the left side and I always find it amazing to remember and look back at photos from the start of the season until now.
Quince fruits are getting bigger and I notice a lot of them growing on this tree. Last year a lot of them fell off before being completely ripe so I hope this season will be better for them.
One lonely apple is growing nicely but the tree looks so sad without more fruits on it, lol. I was expecting a lot more because of the amount of flowers there was but it turned out this way.
Potted strawberries is still doing well but overall we have less strawberries compared to last year - I guess all the rain and constant weather changes did some damage. It's still great to have some from the garden because not only do we grow them organically but they get quite expensive at stores and local markets.
Noticing raspberries growing gets me really excited! Even though strawberries might not have the best year, I think that raspberries will do great. It's always like that with gardening, you can't fully predict anything especially because none of us has control over weather and other stuff that are not in our power. So we can only do our best when it comes to taking care of fruits and veggies we have and hope for the best! :)
Some of the first blackberry flowers. Since this year we probably won't have any strawberries to freeze for the winter and early spring, I guess we'll just freeze more raspberries and blackberries. They always come in handy for some of our favorite cakes.
Salad row is getting smaller as we have been eating salad every day and we're still not tired of it. Carrots were struggling at the beginning but now they look good which is a big plus as we use carrots so often. Spinach is having an amazing year, so amazing we cannot even catch up with consuming it so we will probably freeze some as well even though we never did that before. Last year spinach had a terrible season, I could barely use a handful for a couple of smoothies so it shows again how unpredictable gardening can be.
Cucumbers made some progress since the last time I took photos of them but I still have a feeling they are growing slow.
These cucumbers seem to grow even slower, maybe it's another side-effect of the weather changes over the past few weeks. However, there is also some progress when I compare photos so that's always good.
Zucchini on the other side is growing like crazy, it's good that we left some space around it.
An usual sight when having so many cats around. :) This time Bella got in between peppers we kept under the plastic covers or pre-planted in the greenhouse before moving them here.
Snap peas is one of those veggies where it's so easy to spot the difference in just couple of days - it's growing really fast and it's one of the veggies we always freeze if we have enough to do that. I think this year will be good for snap peas, judging by the look of it.
Inside the green house we have some tomatoes and it seems like they love this spot, the ones in the garden are still very small.
My dad saw this way of planting cherry tomatoes on the internet so he decided to try it and it looks like it's going to work. We also have one small row planted in the garden.
Fig tree leaves are some of my favorite and this tree is also my window view so I couldn't wait for it to get all green after winter when it looks so bare and sad. Over the years I also got to enjoy figs themselves which definitely wasn't always the case.
