Well, I was going to process tomatoes today, but I ended up doing some other things instead, so that might happen tomorrow. In the meantime, I have an update for you on my container garden experiments. This is the first year that I've tried growing some of these things in containers, basically I've only successfully grown pepper plants and tomato plants in containers in the past. I've tried growing cucumbers in big pots in the past, but they didn't do all that well. That may have been a water issue, but I'm not sure. Anyway, most of this year's experiments have been doing pretty well, so far.
These are the 2 pots with bush type yellow beans in them. The pot on the right is about a week or so ahead of the one on the left because I had to replant the seeds in the left hand pot. I have 4 plants in the RH pot and 7 plants in the LH pot. I picked the beans from the RH pot, I got a nice big handful of beans. The beans in the LH pot are still small, but a few are almost ready to pick.
The pepper plants have been doing really well in the self watering buckets this year, at least the ones that didn't get infested with aphids are. Those plants are behind, but they're growing and starting to produce little peppers now.

The potato plants seem to be growing pretty well in the containers. These are early red potatoes that I got started pretty late with. I'll let them grow until they die back or get frosted. The longer they grow, the bigger and more potatoes, hopefully.

I have 3 bigger pots with carrots in them. The one pot only has a few carrots in it because I already picked a couple of carrots from it to use for cooking last week. They weren't big, but they were big enough to use. I think most of the carrots in the pots need more growing time, but they have a couple of months to get bigger.
One last picture, not from the container garden. I picked the bush green beans yesterday afternoon, it was the 3rd picking of those plants. I got a nice bucket full of beans from the plants, some of them were really big, maybe too big. That's what happens when you don't pick them for a week.
This will be the last picking for most of the plants. A lot of the plants had a white mold or fungus on the main stem and also affected a few of the beans that were touching the ground. I ended up pulling out most of the plants because of it, they were dieing from it anyway. We've had a lot of rain this year and I think it was just too wet for the plants, they never dried out underneath, possibly a lack of ventilation from the way the plants get crowded when they get big.
