Hello, and welcome to my page!
After looking at the weather forecast for the next couple of weeks and seeing no night time temperatures below about 40 F, I decided that it was time to plant the outside tomato plants in the raised bed that I had prepared for them. I had been taking them out of the greenhouse during the day to harden them off for planting, so they were ready for transplanting into the raised bed.
This is the raised bed, with the tomato plants getting used to being outside the greenhouse.
When I decided to plant the tomato plants in the bed I didn't think about taking pictures until I already had the area cleaned up, and most of the plants in the ground.
It didn't take much longer after that to have them all planted. I planted 10 plants in total, 5 Better Boy hybrids that I started from seeds, 2 Golden Jubilee plants that I bought, and 3 Black Krim plants that I started from seeds. I also planted marigold plants between the tomato plants to hopefully help repel some of the bad bugs.
Here's a good picture of the raised bed after I got the container garden area cleaned up.
In front of this area is my strawberry bed. It's not as big as it used to be because I changed it's shape last year. The strawberry plants are starting to bloom now.
My 2 plum trees are also in full bloom right now. It's good to see all the bumblebees and honey bees on the flowers this year. We seem to have more bumblebees this year than we had last year, so I'm happy about that.
All 4 of my blueberry bushes made it through the winter and are putting out leaves now.
I have to keep 2 fences around them, one to keep the rabbits from eating them, and one to keep the deer from eating them.
One more picture, my rhubarb is growing well this year. Of course, once you get rhubarb plants established, it's hard to kill them. I need to pull the seed heads out of the plants to keep the rest of the plant growing through the summer instead of dieing back after setting the seeds.
That's all I have for this post. Thanks for stopping by to check it out!
